LAY IT ON THE LINE
The clothing collection, ‘Lay it on the line’ came about through the inspiration from the idea of fashioning various characters, for the purpose of depicting the nature of individuals.
This collection, created for children between the ages of 4-7 years, is our first collection. At these particular stages of development, often times children are able to identify with who they are, and whom they intend to be for years to come. For that reason, the Barbie doll concept was developed. This idea was created with the desire to change cultural symbolism, reversing roles of the child and the doll, by altering the portrayal of Barbie, where she goes from icon to fan. Creating a more approachable, carefree lifestyle for the child and parents, where the child becomes the influence and Barbie becomes the follower.
The general public should celebrate individuals for the diverse fashion preferences they have adopted, furthermore acknowledging the importance of embodying individualism.
The ‘on the line’ kids wear collection consists of recycled fabrics and embellishments, and the doll clothing, made from the excess fabrics and embellishments used to make the kids wear, in order to create identical pieces for the child and the doll. This application is needed in order to produce fresh and irreplaceable garments with a new purpose, and also adding to the decrease in harmful effects on the environment, as well as promoting zero waste practices. The collection has an amalgamation of various colours, textures and patterns. In the light of awakening a mood and element of nostalgia, one can see the refreshing image of contemporary style mixed with the traditional aspects of fashion.
Regarding the selection of fabric, together with the silhouette choices, one should recognise that, in terms of garment construction, ‘Lionhearted’ places sustainability above all else, for the same reason that we believe that form will always follow function with the best favourable approach.
